Spring 2017

2017 is Upon Us…
and so begins another year. Each new year comes with new opportunities for growth and learning. It is also a time of reflection for many of us to look back upon the previous year and think of the ways we have been stretched, have grown, have resisted, and find areas for improvement.

Part of my personal commitment to improvement is my desire to communicate more clearly and more often with the families who are served by the Berean youth ministry. Life can be hectic for all of us, so the more we feel in the loop, the better. Each month, this web page will serve as a community newsletter. Events and activities will be posted here, as well as abilities to either download event RSVP's, or to sign up or register online.

For this to be successful, it will require a few things:
  1. The content of the page will need to be kept up-to-date.
  2. Readers will need to get in the habit of returning here for information and answers, and for updates posted throughout the month.
Number one is up to me. Number two is up to you.

Another way you can partner with the myself and the adult leaders who assist with the youth ministry is to read the Philosophy of Ministry under which we operate. That can be found in the About Our Ministry section of this web page. Take the time to read, reflect, and help us brainstorm events and activities we can plan which will help us minister to our full potential.

I will be using the Parents FaceBook Page to communicate updates and info as well. Not all of the content from this site will be shared on the FB site, and vice versa.
ROCK Junior High

We continue to see a strong unity and high energy with our junior high students. We have begun our study into The Fruit of the Spirit.

Last month, we had a great time with our sister churches when we took the junior high to Leavenworth for tubing, fellowship and games. Nine students traveled from Berean, and we had an excellent day. Watch for updates this month to the ROCK@ events calendar, as we provide more opportunities for fellowship and service for our students.

LIFE Senior High

The new year brings a new series for our senior high students: Elements. Be sure to read more about the study below in the LIFE Senior High section.

Events and activities are making their way onto the calendar for the next 6 months.

The LIFE 3-D Discipleship groups wrapped their 6-week study in December. New groups are forming, so please have your student sign up so we can plan accordingly. If we do not receive a strong response, we will revisit having them in the Spring, and may consider re-extending LIFE Group to end at 8:00.

The Winter BLAST! retreat planning is nearly complete. The goal is for registrations to be made available online within the week. Costs are expected to be in the $65-75 range per person.
Sunday School
Stacks Image 309
We have observed a trend among our senior high students of declining attendance for Sunday school. In many, if not most cases, we find that the parents of the missing students are also not in attendance. To help us serve our teens and families better, I am preparing a short survey designed to help us improve the Sunday school experience. This survey will be anonymous, easy to participate in, and will be conducted online for everyone's convenience. I would appreciate your participation, and I will make an announcement when that survey is available.

Communion
I would enjoy any opportunity to meet with you to discuss the youth ministry or to come alongside you that we might mutually encourage one another. I want to be helpful to you, and my desire is that you help me help your student reach their full potential in their Christian walk. If you would like to set up an appointment, head to the Contact Us page and leave a message.
